Anytime I watch a vlog about Russia especially when said person is visiting towns it seems as though the Soviet era was the golden age for them . Literally every town has to have an abandoned Soviet infrastructure or the The current Russian government has to rely on the old Soviet system ( education and army ) .

forgive my ignorance but we’re times better during Soviet era .

I believe many people are nostalgic for it and I believe they rightly think there were positive aspects to Soviet life- on the other hand, the Soviet system did push atheism on people.

For some of the Russians the Soviet Union might have been a utopia compared to modern Russia. Healthcare was free, education was free and they had free housing.

Other ex Soviet countries like the Baltic countries and Ukraine would heavily disagree with their point for them the Soviet Union was another Russian empire that oppressed them.

The interesting thing is how central Asian countries are the ones who miss the Soviet Union the most. They tend to be the most nostalgic about that era.
