South Korea’s miraculous economic development (Inspirational)

A reminder that after the Korea War the south was poorer than both Somalia and Kenya combined and had no natural resources whatsoever, yet right now they're one of the richest countries in the planet, from an aid recipient to an aid donor, so what happened?

It's all because they focused 100% on their greatest resource of all, their people, every south Korean family wanted to take their children to school no matter how poor or hungry they were or whatever their situation is that would prevent them from taking all their kids to school, even if they had 10 kids every Korean parent wanted all 10 of their kids going to school both kids and adults got education, in just a few years south Korea had a very skilled workforce with a very high literacy rate, one of the highest in the world, all because of their commitment to succeed and the president at the time did two things:

1) build more factories

2) ban all imports to Korea except aid and raw materials

They focused their economy into an export oriented economy, what they buy, they build and sell instead, and gave their biggest businesses huge tax breaks and free land to grow, all of this gave us the South Korea of today.

And yes, all this can happen to Somalia, focus on education, ease to start of new business and stop all imports, if we can import it, we can make it, Somali products made by Somali hands.

This is the spirit that will make somalia flourish :it0tdo8:

They got help from America and Israel... As did every one of these zero to hero countries like Singapore.

You need so much foreign investment that it's fools game to think about it.

It's the culture more than anything that has helped them get to this level. They're one of the hardest working people on this planet. Polite, humble, and hardwork to the T.

We can't compare ourselves to them. Not even on the same league.
