ngl I heard while back that some Somali tribes have handful of assimilated Abyssinians during expansion and spreading islam, when somalis where expanding and on there way to occupy the largest landmass in Africa on the way a lot of foreign Cushitic/Habesha tribes got assimilated into Somali clans and eventually became muslims. I suspect Ogaden region are ancient Abyssinians who got assimilated into the confederation of Darood. Dirs especially ones who live in djboutti probably got assimilated Aksum descendants.
I was watching a documentary about food shortage in northern Ethiopia and the whole time what kept popping up in mind was why haven't we made them Somali yet? its so strange watching people who look just like the average Somali but they speak another language .
So why haven't we assimilated more of them ?
Well if the British didn't mingle into the horn, By time British came they documented how somalis where half way through Kenya itself and if it weren't for them they would have subdued the entire landmass - but instead the bastards armed the expanding bantus and used them as leverage until today to do there bidding. Also if the Abyssinians didn't cry and give a handjob to the British crown and Russian and French empires to boycott the Somali sultanates and instead arm them with guns then today Somalia would be multicultural like America with hundreds of ethnicities and multiple languages.
If we are being honest its only thanks to christianity that our neighbors today have leverage over us in this dunya - historically they have been aided and have only been able to divide us and keep us in submission thanks to their worship of European powers - Same Mfs who deceive africans of never being colonized literally invited europeans into Africa and is even the first cause of colonization.
Haplogroups defy your theory. There are assimilated somalis amongst the oromos, and assimilated oromos amongst somalis. We didn’t assimilate highlanders though.
Why haven't the Djiboutian assimilated the Afar people in Northern Ethiopia and Djibouti and Eritrea ?
I think to Somalizes these other horn Africans Af Somali must be the dominate language spoken for instance if we are talking on land mass it is, but I think if we want to create this effect the Somalis in all Somali region must use the Af Somali as the main business/trading language. This will eventually Somalize the whole Horn of Africa
because somalis were more isolated in comparison to other tribes

I don’t support mass absorbing other ethnic groups. That would only water down the Somali ethnicity (I say this as someone who isn’t 100% ethnic Somali myself)

Somali people have a distinct advantage over most of Africa.
That advantage is that we are one single ethnicity and speak one sole dominant language as well as being the largest single ethnic group to encompass the largest landmass in the continent, all we need is the rest of Sonaliweyn and remove the barrier of qabilism and we are absolutely good.
All this mixture and assimilation will only lose the single distinct advantage we have and Somalis are low in population compared to Niger-Congo Bantus, Arabs, White Europeans, South and East Asians and so on. We need to replenish our numbers amongst ourselves and assimilation and mixture is a bad idea, we already covering land that eclipses all of Western Europe and further; and have the conditions to dominate.

We can't stop assimilation. It better we control the amount of people we can an should assimilate. For instance we already have orom and other Ethiopian coming to Somalia. This what I meant you can't stop it. What we can due is to teach them Somali language song dance and ritual activities and religious practices. If we let these people be as they are they will form a country in your country. Now once that happens of these a lot of them they will feel disgruntled and they would want to take over. This why once you come to any Western country they put you in English ESL courses for you to assimilate into society and they put your children in there school system by they time your children is 18 and went from k-12. Your children wants what the average America person wants. This is perfect assimilation. So first generation child may even forget there mother language with trying to assimilate in America. If you don't think assimilation is a good thing just look at your own self your and others on this site. We've all been assimilate into the English language. We've all wanted to celebrate America or European holidays. All Somali family in America do Thanksgiving And Halloween and New Year's. So is assimilating our neighbor is a good thing for Somali people as a whole.
