Is it uncommon for Somalis to have straight hair?

I have noticed that out of all my somali friend only like 2 of us have straight hair everyone else have afro textured hair.

I’m also the only one with straight hair in my family which dosen’t make any sense

It is not normal at all. But are you sure your hair is straight? Lots of Somalis have straightish hair when it's short but when it grows it becomes wavy. But completely straight like an indian is definitely not common.

My hair is completly straight

I have grown my hair to shoulder lenght once and it was still straight.

Doubt it’s pencil straight have you grown it out? It’s uncommon half my family have it but the rest of us have curly hair.

Pretty uncommon I would say, the jileec hair that somalis have is usually wavy/curly hair that is straight when short, that type of hair is pretty common amongst somalis.I've got many siblings and our hair texture ranges from 2c type wavy hair to 4a course hair.Pencil straight is very uncommon amongst somalis.
