The thing is both women and men perpetuate FGM in Somali culture. To argue that men do not play a role is disingenuous and shows that they take criticism of what other men do as criticism of them. Also, I don't know why some older Somali women try to force younger Somali women to do all sorts of stuff. These women believe because they experience awful stuff because of the misogyny in our culture that we should too.
