where do you live?
I pay $650 a month for a 1 bedroom 1 bathroom 1,000 square feet apartment here in San Diego which is cheap by California standards. I’m assuming you live in cali? Most apartments/studios in LA are around that price range that you mentioned.
I live in seattle, 1,500 for a studio in Capitol Hill.

Nowhere near as high as Australia.

If we had American house prices in Australia, you will see even fresh grads snapping up homes.

It's really terrible in Sydney; my family managed to buy a home by pulling together and the fact that we're all adults. We'll replicate the process until we all get homes.

is very simple saxib, supply and demand. As the price of rent goes up there should be more people building new apartments. Unfortunately, most zoning laws favor suburban housing which prevents higher density in an area. People who owns these houses restrict new development to protect their property value.

Sydney’s prices are too damn high but people seem to making profits.

I have been renting apartments in the CBD/Eastern Suburbs for the time being. Probably not buying a house for a few years unless it’s an investment with my siblings or friends.

My parents own a house interstate which they’ve had for a decade now.

If they sold it now, they would make serious cash in this market lol.

:hmm:

I hate to say it but Islam’s stance on mortgages is severely handicapping Muslim immigrants from acquiring generational wealth via property ownership.

Imagine if these Somalis have bought property 10-30yrs ago…..they would all have either been full owners with no debt or have significant equity capita to downsize. All the other immigrants have no issues getting mortgages.

And you know what the strange thing is…….out of all the Muslim communities is my experience Somalis are the most averse to taking bank loans/mortgages…..the arabs where I live/Turks/Pakistanis have zero issues. I’m sure there are individuals who don’t for religious reasons. But on a community level they have no qualms about mortgages.
Where I'm from most arabs are on welfare or live paycheck to paycheck & renting.
American diaspora Indians, paki, arabs are rich or have business it's rare to see them struggling. They get there & immediately have a business even refugee Yemenis take over the corner shops . Somalis are literally like madow Americans .
Gangs ,single motherhood, drugs ,low earning jobs etc.

Paki ,indian, turks are working class people

All the criminals gave something incommon they come from war torn countries & are refugees .
Thats Somalis biggest problems most of our diaspora are poor refugees & start at the bottom

Lacag noo soo dir, if y'all are so rich
:pachah1:

Not rich bro.

My point is that Americans protesting about house prices is tone deaf.

The average house price is 325K in Minneapolis.

That’s a 32,000 deposit which can be saved by a family with two or even three incomes.
