The diaspora Somalis are lost cause son. Most of 'em won't ever come back. It's pointless counting them in those figures.

I'd say about 2.5 Million or less.
North America, EUROPE, AUSTRALIA, MIDDLE EAST, UGANDA (Huge Somali population), South Africa and others. They're dispersed all over the globe but their numbers cannot possibly exceed 2.5 Million.

2.5 mil sounds small to me for some reason. Thought there would be much more up to 6
Adding this to the 30mil in greater Somalia the maximum is 33 mil huh

Those us are estimations, I might be wrong but the last time Somalia had an offical census was during Siad Barre's government.
The last time there was a proper census was a long time ago along with us having the second highest fertility rate in the world shouldn’t it be higher?

The population of Somalia was 14.5 Millions in 2014 according to census conducted by the UNFPA. That was 6 years ago and the annual population growth of Somalia is 2.8% according to the world bank. That means the total population growth over the past 6 years was 16.8%<>

Ethiopia's population is estimated to be 110M in 2020... In 2009 deeply biased census conducted by Ethiopia concluded that Somalis are 7% of the population, slightly larger than Tigrays. I would say they underreported our true numbers in Ethiopia, I say we're at least 8.5% of the population which comes around 9 Million.
In Kenya, the population is 53 Million.... According to their office for population statistics, Somalis are 6% of the population. Which is 5 Million.

The population census is absolute rubbish. How was it possible for them to accurately get info?
I believe our pop is a lot higher than the 15m they are reporting. Back home every man has got 2/3 wives and an platoon of kids.

Somali population numbers are greatly exaggerated. I have been to a city where the internet claims to have over 1 million inhabitants. I have walked from one part of the city to the other in 2 hours. For weeks, I have observed the same faces and bumped into the same people, many of whom claimed to be related to me. I have also been to the miygi and I didn't see anyone else for days while walking with the camels and this was a major clan's territory. Where were they?

Even the south is empty. You should take a look at satellite images. There are not tens of millions of Somali nomads walking around. There are not many small towns in Somalia. I see alot of villages with 10 homes though. I saw a village many people have mentioned on here as if it was a major bustling town belonging to that subclan and who were proud to rep. Honest to G*d, it had like 10 shingads. I was shocked. I thought it was a mistake.
There’s plenty of large settlements all over the country plus many Somalis are nomads so move around from time to time. Even if you look at satellite images there are many decently sized towns/cities plus hargeisa+xamar is easily atleast 5 million alone
