But you will never find Arabs or Asians, or Hispanics in Somali restaurants why do some ethnic groups don’t go other people’s restaurants?

The Somali restaurants in my city look run down with outdated decor, poor ambiance and don’t provide very good customer service to foreigners (a couple people who have went to Somali restaurants here have told me this–maybe because of a language barrier? Not sure). Even if the food is good, if your restaurant is lacking in these crucial aspects people will not return.

If the decor was up to date and modern and the staff were more inviting, Somali restaurants would be popping and it looks like in some cities they’ve gotten this on point, mashallah

Huh? Why u comparing Gulf Arab countries investing their oil wealth in London to diversify their economy to Somalis in London opening businesses?
Gulf countries? I was talking about the many individual shops and business which are not owned or funded by governments. Many of the Arab restaurants in London are owned by Iraqi refugees. The Syrian arrivals have opened more business than the Somalis did in the last 30 years. Moroccans have way better restaurants than Somalis in London. Somalis don’t have even own that many business in the hoods as well apart from a few pockets they call “Somali areas”. Chinese and Bengali restaurants who didn’t speak English when they arrived are millionaires today.

Somalis get hustled by Afghan and Pakistanis who charge extortionate prices for wedding venues. How can such a big community not even have their own wedding venues? Somalis could have done way more than they have, but they chose to invest most of their money back home. Those that open business are mainly insular and they only cater to the Somali community, though this is slowly changing with new generation.

I think the “muh Somalis are great @ Business” is an exaggeration. Perhaps in Kenya and Minneapolis, but UK, we are lacking.
