It could be similar to Farsi, but I agree, we need a modified latin script or a new scipt based on sumado, osmanya etc

Literacy in Somalia is already low. Switching to a script similar to arabic might increase literacy since people learn the arabic characters for quranic studies.

That's why an adjusted Arabic script based of wadaad would be very useful. But we need someone of influence to introduce this.

Plus switching scripts is not unheard of, especially moving from latin scripts to a different one. The latin script just makes Somali look like key smash with all the extended vowels (double letters)

I would also be in favour of an adjusted latin script but with accents

Yes. My name has extended vowels and I hate it. Somali looks like word vomit. I'm not a native speaker, but I feel like spelling isn't standardised. I see so many different spellings for a single word

Exactly. What’s the point of going from Latin letters to Arabic letters when the whole complaint was “others will be able to read our language”. Well Arabs, Persians, south Asians and anyone that can read Arabic letters will be able to read Somali if we used the wadaad script. Osmanya or something else Somalis invented is better.

This won't save reputation much. Our videos being in spoken somali would achieve more, but it will be a long time before google translate makes an arabic script based translation service. The effort needed will most likely deter many people.

I only think Arabic is worth adopting to make literacy higher.
