Somalis Misunderstand Aid To Be Investment

Somalia has been a Global Partnership for Education (GPE) partner since 2012. The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) formally applied for GPE membership in July 2012. The membership was approved and a total of US$ 14.5 million was allocated to Somalia for the period of 2013 – 2016. This was broken down across three education ministries as follows: US$ 2.1 million for Puntland, US$ 4.2 million for Somaliland and US$ 8.2 million for FGS. Education Strategic Sector Plans (ESSP) were developed, approved and endorsed for all three regions in 2012, with UNICEF acting as the Grant Agent (GA) for three implementation grants.

Puntland is performing the best in Somalia in nearly every economic metrics I read, receiving less aid indicates your region is wealthier and more productive, the more aid you get indicates your poorer region. Just like welfare is geared towards poorer individuals in the west rather then rich individuals. Our economy is 50% better then Somaliland who received double our aid quota and it's nearly 4 times better then the rest of Somalia who received 8 million in aid.

It's great being a tuulo boy, my locals in PL are 50% richer then the average local in Somaliland and 4 times richer then anything in south-central Somalia.

I admire PLs sustainability for sure, but puntland was largely spared the civil war, and its tribal makeup is more let’s say uniform. These qualities are going to lead with better results then southern Somalia which went through constant wars, displacement, famines and political upheaval. it isn’t a surprise that puntland is leagues ahead of somalia proper.

Yes when they inject more 'aid' quota into your region or ministry, the reason behind that is because it's not functioning in comparison to other regions or international standards. If u see larger aid quotas somewhere, be weary wallahi about your govt performance

What performance somalia is a shithole the question is how much of a shithole. That so called aid is probably going into politicians pockets anyways
