Somalis in real life are usually less racist than online

Some years ago I was at dinner with some friends all Somalis born and raised in Somalia but living in the west. One dude said something extremely racist about somali Bantus and other africans in general using the J word. Everyone pretty much lost their mind and called him out telling him to stob being racist, that racism is haram and that he himself was lived in Kenya so it was hypocritical. I believe online trolls are nothing like real life Somalis, if you use the J word openly and say racist stuff people will be at the very least disgusted and they may call you out

The only somalis that are racist online are either a majority of awkward teenage little boys whose hooyo won't let them outside and grew up without any good male figures in their life (age 13-18) or small group of lowlife grown men who don't have a partner, gaols or anything beside early bidaar and live in their hooyo's basement (age 22-27) the rest of the somali community don't engage in such nonsense.

I have never met an elder somali person who uses jâreer as insult, if anything it's mostly used to describe other somalis with kinky hair.

yes, the hate online trolls show specifically to madows is something I never encountered in real life somali society. Also people generally treat non-ethnic somalis like carab saleeex, reer xamar, somali bantus etc. as part of the community and don't ostarcize them the same way these internet trolls, I know many in real life and I've never seen them as vastly different to other somalis before entering online circles.

I've never seen anyone ostracize carab saleex and reer Xamar is fairly rare. Bantus somalis are honestly the true victims in Somalia

It's more than that. Obviously people will feel more comfortable to say racist stuff online but people also do that in real life when they are amongst friends or relatives so the anonymity is still there somehow.

Using the word is different than expressing hatred. The J word is pretty much the name of a clan, people use it back home in a neutral way as well. I think the older generation is not that racist. During the Siad government racial discrimination was very stigmatized

I have seen many of them see jaareers as troublemakers, not wanting their kids to hang out with them, they are definitely more racist than the younger generation, from my experience anyway.
