Culture isn't too different among us. Sure there are linguistic differences and certain practices that are exclusive to one area or another. However this is no different from any other ethnic group. As long as Somalis are in contact with each other there will always be a sense of what does and doesn't constitute a somali.

In order for one to claim to be a distinct culture they'd have to go through hundreds of years of isolated development that will cut them off from their parental culture.

Some people are of lower level thinking apparently. They cannot comprehend the world we live in today is different than the world where we had our own Sultans, Boqors, Ugaas & imams and battled over land and cities.

Mogadishu was bombed to rubble by a country on the other side of the world. That simple fact alone should tell you than the clan based kingdoms are long dead and will never return. Any secessionist state will be annexed by Etiopians and Kenyans. The only way to ensure a future for somali people is to evolve past this and create a centralised Somali state. Anything less than that and your bloodline will be mixed with bantus and will speak swahili in the south or Oromo & Amharic. They'll build churches and be converting little somali children in the thousands. Who's gonna stop them?
