It's still cultural appropriation if we're being honest with ourselves. So wither you wear western clothing or eastern clothing you're all the same.
The thobe is the clothing of the prophet saw, it is also very similar to what Somali men traditionally wore. That is why men wear it.
If you have a problem with the thobe, then you should have a problem with western clothing. You are okay with assimilation but not cultural diffusion? You look like a clown, so hush.
