That’s the difference between the Somali jihadist schools in the south and the north. Those in the south originally led by Hasan Dahir Aweys embraced violence, while in Burca under the leadership of his in-law Sheikh Ali Warsame, they have embraced teaching the masses and building bottom up a community that’s receptive to their ideology. There’s a bloke who’s released from Guantanamo and guess where he lives? He lives peacefully in Burca after been convinced by Ali Warsame to shun Alshabaab. that’s the future of jihadism. Burca is now more conservative than any town in Afghanistan. They’ve moved on to Hargeisa. In a decade or so, they will manage to be voted in to a leadership position democratically and declare their welayat without a shot being fired.

Let this whole election dispute finish

These local / parliamentary elections scheduled are ones that will determine Somalilands politics for the next 10 years as multiple parties can register and the top 3 becomes a national party for the next presidential election.

There's a rule in Somaliland that no Islamist party can register set up by Riyaale but unsure if that has been scrapped. We'll just have to wait n see.

Only reason there's no bullets fired is nearly all tribal militias were disarmed in the 90s and the youngsters who grew up in a non conflict environment have no experience in such and would have no interest so you're right of somaliland becomes more hard-line it will be from the east.

not all true, there r wild parties in burao,, wadaads subdued.
do you know they go out of the city like 2 miles every nite to this dark empty areas(they call hilton ) with women and men,alcohol and music, theres sex done in cars and in plain view of each otha. they mostly armed and police dare not go there. many times some were arrested on their way back to town around 3am but it just keeps flourishing, its like midnight happy hour. most who go there financially ok, they no bums.
