But I already see a lot of younger Somalis buying homes since they don't really care about avoiding interest. Plus a lot of younger Somalis are getting good jobs/degrees, so overtime we'll probably see less Somalis living in the hood

I think the older generation probably thought they were only going to temporarily be in the west so they didn't fully commit to settling here. Unfortunately a lot of their kids suffered because of this

The older gen had to send large portions of their income back home ass well as trying to learn a new culture language, learn the ins and outs of society (mortgages, banking, finance, investing) and raise their kids.

call me a dickhead but the only people who do what you are talking about are Somali refugees. Ive been to every major Somali diaspora except Seattle and what I noticed is that somalis in the DMV and ATL(except the brainwashed ones) are miles ahead of a diaspora with refugees like Columbus per capita. not to bash them but When I visited that area multiple times I talked to relatives and noticed that a lot of the somalis where there pre civil war which meant they had a lot of time to work and go to school and they probably had scholarships. compared to Farax and Xalimo who flew in cause of group 5. I'd also say somalis in European countries like Sweden, UK, Norway might be the worst since they leech of the GOV, I remember seeing a vid of a FOB saying " if you want to come to the west come to Germany not America the gov assistance is better here" awful mentality. I do see some nice trends here in MN especially amongst the sisters and a nice handful of the brothers but there's a lot of work to do.

Give it time, we only came into this country 30 years ago as you said but as poor migrants. Even now, the west is still getting poor fobs which skews our performance.

The prerequisites and work hours between those two are pretty much similiar (just a car license, day truck course and that’s it). I see Indians driving in double B’s to our depot and a lot of them can’t speak English properly other than telling us to look at the dockets so I can’t think of why the older generation didn’t take a job of $80K where you don’t need to talk over a job of picking people giving you $20 20 years ago.
