Somalis are their own nightmare and not necessarily foreign powers. Foreign powers like the UK have given state protection to all it's former colonial territories and let's be honest when compared to other colonial powers and their territories, their former colonial territories are leaps and bounds ahead(Egypt, South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya) heck even Paul Kagame discontinued all ties with Belgium for the UK and wanted to join the Commonwealth of nations.
I mean look at places like Hong kong, Singapore vs Dutch colonies like Indonesia or Spanish colonies like Phillipines lol. There no doubt their colonial territories are the best performing when you look at the Spanish, French, Dutch, Italian former colonial territories.
But we must be fair and honest to Somalis, Somalis refused the British due to their cultural/religious genocide and at the time the world was in a very big fascist supremacy era. Somalis were scared that their people clan identity, cultural values, religious identity is wiped out like they did in many parts of Africa as you see many Africans today with English first names and African last names.
They even attempted it in Berbera which was the final straw that broke the camel back and Somalis do not like the British world order and we need to be frank about it and seek allies who are also anti colonial like America and Ireland. The Western world Dano guud waa ka dhaxaya yet dano gaar way lee yihin, way Isla socodan on certain issues yet way Kala socodan on danahooda gaarka ah.
I mean point in case when black hawk down happened, everyone knows it was Italy who was backing HG and even Ali Mahdi called for Italy to stop it and when America left, notice all the peace keepers left cause they knew America was going to get revenge on Italy by backing another clan. See that's what I mean the west is only allies on certain things but they all pursue their national goals separately.
Somalia, Ethiopia, Sudan, Sahel region are the oldest parts of the continent and they have far longer histories and therefore the Brits knew they won't win this part of Africa and focused on nations with not much history in the continent and till today you shall never see rebel movements in places like Kenya because the UK has safeguarded their security even post colonial, same with Tanzania, South Africa. The only dude who stood up to them was Mugabe but he stood no chance as they knew his people can be crushed easily as their isn't a long history there for social cohesion or tactics.
Look what they did to Edi Amin in Uganda when he tried to say enough is enough, his gone and replaced quickly. They can do this with any SSA country with lesser pre colonial history. Now the current president in Uganda knew the best route for him is to be a puppet and let the west have their way cause he knows if he says anything he shall be replaced also like EDI Amin plus their shacab are not blessed with a long history like sahel(former maali empire) or Sudan, Ethio, Somalia.
Rather than crying this and that, let's just suspend all contacts with the UK and put more focus on Ireland and America who we share a common hatred of the english empire who harmed all of us in our different ways.
