Back in 1955, Ethiopia's population was 7.8 times bigger than Somalia's. Fast forward to 2023, and it's 7 times larger, counting Somalia plus Somaliland. By 2040, it's projected to be only 5.6 times bigger. So, the gap between Ethiopia and Somalia is actually shrinking over time. Plus, there's the fact that the Somali population in the Ogaden region of Ethiopia is growing fast.
