Exactly, it wasn't even esay breaking away from Somalia especially when the former Northwest was economically underdeveloped in addition 90 % of Hargeysa's building infustructures was gone. However, I would mind if Somaliland joins with Djbouti as a England and Scotland thing. But, the capital would in Djbouti city. 15% of the seats in Djbouti city would be split between Issaq, Gaddarbirsi and Issa from SL. Djbouti city gets some of their revenue from Berbera and eventually create larger ports in Maydh, Saylac and Lughaya . The reason why I said Djbouti is that the demographics of Somalis In the country is dominated by Issa, Gaddarbirsi and Issaq.

You have to ask reer Somaliland why they broke away from Somalia and it wasn't easy given the economic condition and the lack infustracture in Burco, Hargeysa, Brebera, Erigavo and Canayba back than. I would say 1988 was part of it. But, when Aided announced that he declared himself the president of Somalia without the consultation of the citizens of former Somali republic and especially reer waqooyi it broke the camel's back.

Plus, why would Somaliland would want to reunite with Xamar after all they have a 4.5 system , a system that limits the political progression of most reer Waqooyi.

In my opinion somaliweyne is nonsense because the only thing I have in common is the same ethnicity and religion which is shared by many Somalis. But. "somaliweyne " is a nationalist ideology which is the main reason it is in the current predicament. I think Somalis replaced their deen with somaliweyne in all honesty and that how everything went crashing down. When someone talks about "somaliweyne" they don't take into account the current political climate which Somalia is a failed state. But, rather romanticise it like its 1960.
Somaliland is trying to succeed and gain international recognition, NFD is practically in Kenya, Ogaden region is in Ethiopia and Djibouti don't want to be part of Somalia.
