It was then snatched by DP World the UAE flagship port operator.
P&O Ports and DP World have the same chairman as P&O Ports is wholly owned by the government of Dubai through Port, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC) which is a Government of Dubai corporation .
It was initiated by the government of Dubai in order to take over Ports that are deemed unprofitable for DP World and less of a scope.
They are not the same but are sister companies as they are both owned by Dubai. They have separate structures even though they have the same chair as P&O Ports is owned by PCFC and the chair of PCFC is the same as DP World but they are different companies and compete sometimes though through their link and being sister companies things overlap but they are totally independent from each other in scope, structure and operations.
