Why is the capital of the Somaliland region lagging in education?

People are more privileged on average in the bigger cities back home vs people in smaller towns/tuulos which you’d think would make them have the higher scores but it’s the opposite they get complacent in their work.

A guy from caynabo or sum shit that has to work in the hot market to pay for his own school is gonna be more driven then a guy from hargeisa getting sent to school courtesy of one of his cousins in the diaspora (not to say there isn’t a poverty problem in the big cities, poverty is rampant in every corner of somali civilization whether urban or rural.)

You're right on this, but Hargeisa gets the lion share of UN funding+foreign teachers. Take school no.10 on the list for an example it was 1 that was built by a group of families and no access to any funding from the UNDP or any NGO. With all the Kenyan math teachers you would think Hargeisa would rank in the top 10s.

I'm just happy that the public schools are doing well as they are free and are generally attended by the poorest...

As those even with a little money send their kids to private schools

alot of public schools aren't free but they pay considerably less.
