Tbh i don't blame the leaders for rejecting this, since some ppl are dumb enough to reject aid money for recognition. I gave up on that dream a long time ago. Westerners are not our friends. They'd rather Sl stay with a dysfunctional south than to have any somali state capable of leading the indian ocean trade route.

Uniting with Somalia is not the answer. It's been recognized since 1960 and in war with itself since 1977 and it's worse than a crap hole, Djbouti has peace keeping troops there. Djbouti has recognition but doesnt have minerals or resources. SL is probably the most resource filled and environmentally diverse Somali region out of the 5 somali territory. Not to mention the largest coast out of all countries in the red sea trade route. This is why Somalia is scared to let Somaliland go. Its Money

Logistically alone it shits on Somalia and that's why no big port operator cared to broker a deal with Somalia and why Saudi wanted to form a co-op with a redsea countries to regulate trade there. Red sea is a 1 trillion trade route. About minerals and resources, all reports from 1970s to now indicate SL as being the most resource filled.
