Disgusting that people are coming up with fake news so that they can present Somalis as being savages.

Even people back home would never punish a girl that has said she has been raped.
it's written by a somali though, how do you guys now this is not real?

I have cousins in Sl and my mother would have known. Who cares if it's a somali? it could be ayan hirsi for all i care. It's slander and i will talk to ppl to see if we can report them or prove it's fake. We may sue them for cash. This is defamation! i was too young to expose the piracy bullshit but i will defend the honour of the somali name and expose the media for being anti somali and creating fake narratives.

I'm writing to complain about this slander and will contact officials back home to address this fake news. They must be shamed and sued for 200m! i have a feeling it's some ex muslim somali like ayan hirsi trying to shame our Somali name.

great please do it.
I will sxb. Do what you can as well. Tweet to other somali nationalists. Share news with family back home and tell them to speak to elders to get them to petition to the government because they can sue these media companies for slander and defamation especially since it could make investors stay away from somaliland.

this guy usually tweets about things like this and he's mentioned in the article. you can complain to him

Everyone on sspot. I have word form back home this is a lie! It's slander and defamation concocted by what I suspect to be anti somalis. We will write to our politicians and make our voices heard. We have grounds to sue the BBC for defamation if it hurts our investments which it will. They will not slander us like they did not he piracy scandal. This time as a community I urge you all to help out and shame them and expose them for this anti Somali racism.

We are the future of Somalia and let our enemies see that we will together call them out for their biased reports on us. I have contacted ppl in hargeisa to get them to petition this to the government. We can shame them and show the world how they slandered us for years until now!!!

Thank Allah for this opportunity. The corrupt will be exposed. They fucked dip this time. No one was arrested and police reports will show this. The locals are angry and upset!!!!

Hopefully this will be payback for the piracy slander when we were weak and divided as a community.

UAE is threatened by out oil deals and want foreign investors to stay away. They will be exposed inshallah. Lets try to be a useful diapora for once and expose them. This isn ot about SL or PL or Somalia! this is about all of our honour and the media waging war on us since the whole piracy scandal. It's time for Somali ppl to strike back. They fucked up big time!!!

Contact those in SL we need the locals to raise their voices in out rage. The government will have to respond to these false allegations. This is defamation at it's finest and they think they can keep doing it because somalis are asleep.

This woman will ose her job for writing fake bullshit. BBC will be shamed and we will take them to court for defamation. Bunch of retards thinking they could lie on us.

This is good for somalis tho. It's a collective win since we can expose the medias racism and bias when reporting against us since the piracy scandal. Stoning is not lawful in SL and only capital punishment is administered for murderers and treason. This xalimo with a degree in sjw and feminism will lose her job for defaming us.

Ye this brother is a staunch defender of human rights in his home state, so i doubt he'd tweet out falsehoods. Lets wait and see
It's a lie sxb. Just read the article it's non sense. It goes against the law to stone someone. Why would a judge allow this against the law? she's bullshitting and thought we'd never catch on. The BBC picked it up and didn't research it as expected from the scumbags and will be shocked when thye are taken to court for this. Collectively we win hopefully if ppl back home can petition this to officials. I smell UAE paying a lot of ppl off.

A judge in the self-declared republic of Somaliland has sentenced a disabled woman, who had accused a man of rape, to be flogged 100 times.

Her perpetrator has been sentenced to death by stoning.

The victim first reported the incident to local police in February 2018.

She said she had been raped by a taxi driver in September 2017.

She did not report the incident immediately after the rape happened as she feared being stigmatised, but later went to the authorities after discovering that she was pregnant, her representatives told the BBC.

They said the police didn’t believe her because of the delay in reporting the assault.

The judge ordered the alleged perpetrator to take a DNA test as he had denied all claims made against him.

RIGHTS ABUSE

“Victims are being harassed by the system. What kind of message does this send to women who want to report crimes?" said Somaliland human rights lawyer Guleid Ahmed Jama.

"Women still fear going to police stations, and now they might be punished for coming forward."

The victim’s lawyer and human rights groups in Somaliland have lodged an appeal and are hopeful the sentencing will be overturned.

Last year, the passing of the first rape and sexual offences law in Somaliland made headlines internationally and it was celebrated as a victory for women.

Mr Jama told the BBC that when the legislation was passed “we all celebrated but the law has since been suspended and is under review, nothing has changed since it made headlines".
