Somaliland lawmaker, Mr. Mohamed Ahmed Dhakol has been released from police detention on Monday according to reports coming from Hargeisa. The member of Somaliland house of representatives has spent two months under police captivity for making rude and offensive remarks against Somaliland national day, May 18. The release was secured after politicians and parliamentarians elected from the arrested lawmaker’s provinces have made an apology over the statement from him. Many local and international organizations engaged in defending the free speech have accused the gov of gagging the freedom of expression in Somaliland. Reporter by the name of Mr. Abdimalik Muse Oldon and member of Wadani opposition party are behind bars for breaching the terms of Somaliland constitution and are awaiting to appear before regional court in Somaliland. Human rights groups have alleged the government that this is mean to silence the freedom of expression in Somaliland.
