Somaliland Elections?

It's been almost two weeks since the voter registrations were finalized, yet there is no sight of any elections. Ina Bixi is potentially opting to not hold party elections. I mean, why bother?

The opposition has to be the worst party in all of Somali history. They dominate the parliament but are truly powerless. Led by a couple of brain-dead 'politicians'. Ina Bixi and Kulmiye haven't even accepted Ina Khalif's resignation, which has been three weeks now, and they are refusing to allow Wadani to re-occupy the speaker position.

Ina Bixi has really cemented his tyrannical rule through continuous illegal extensions, and the opposition can't do anything except complain about it even on the joyous days of Eid.


And the main argument for secession is 'peace' and 'democracy', but now that's going down the toilet. What else is there to faan about?

As an outside observer, the reason for this is simple. Somaliland’s citizens were stripped of weapons therefore as citizens there’s no avenue of fighting so no threat to Bihi. What do you expect them to do? They had a protest and were gunned down. Now with an Active front in Laascaanood and any mucaarad labeled traitorous it’s even worse.

This is not Koonfur where everyone and their mother is armed, even then you see Madoobe lol.

Iska baashaal Muuse Shaani I say, he’s 75 so maybe SL only has to wait till he’s 95. I think a lot of Somalis would’ve said let’s just wait till a few years for Siad Barre to die if they knew of his poor health in advance

It is true that major disarmament led to this, but it was crucial to establish some sort of 'law and order' to be fair.

And you do realize it was the opposition leaders who led those protesters to their deaths in the first place. If I recall correctly, they were urging people to die for them and their political cause, which turned out to be in vain since nothing came out of it. Not to mention, they were seen laughing with Bixi just a week later.

The opposition clan(s) need to replace their leaders. Otherwise, they will never move forward with such incompetence. Unless those leaders are involved in backdoor deals with Bixi, they would've re-armed their clansmen once they realized he wasn't going to budge.

I agree with OP that opposition have been the WOAT. I don’t think they care and ok with status quo. This LA war is only prolonging the election and I’m sure bixi is ok with that. No clue how he would even run again when he’s old af he’s been disappointing in general. I want new fresh leaders heck even hilaac leader ahmed samatar would be much better option at this point
