Being the next Venezuela or Nigeria is still 100x better than the current situation, we're at rock bottom, oil/natural gas is our only chance at quick economic development.

It also gives a financial incentive to those in the Government, the sooner the country is rid of Shabaab and stabilized, we can tap into our resources and make billions.

No it isn’t . The people of these countries aren’t lawless animals. You don’t think if resources are not shared equally ( they won’t be ) that Somali’s wouldn’t chimp out again ? Somali’s need to forget about this ‘resource extraction’ bs as though it’s the only means to a successful economy and hire a serious economist with pedigree . This person doesn’t even have to be Somali.

The current minister of Fiance, Dr.Beileh has a fantastic pedigree and is doing a good job, hiring a "serious economist" isn't going to magically give us the capital needed to develop the country.

The only hope we have of quick economic development is through Oil/natural gas, it's that simple. The real question is how much oil do we have? Remains to be seen, but I'm hoping this is our ticket out of the dark ages.
