Somalia Will Become A Member Of The EAC In December

How can they take such a drastic decision? It can have a severe repercussion down the road, without consulting with it's citizens. At least halt it until the country get stabilized and organized, then let people decide it through referendum after informing people about the issue. The way this has been pushed through, is quite suspicious. Smells of corruption and greed. I wonder, if our paymasters is also complicit in enforcing this membership on us.

Is it a military pact aswell? In that case we don't gotta worry about them Ethiopians drolling over our ports. For the time being, it's puts us in a better security state then before.

I don't take twitter as news. Somalia had been rejected more times, in fact the EAC was more willing to let South Sudan in than us.

We won't be joining the EAF. So for the fear mongers that think we'll be in 1 nation with bantus, relax. Somalis in Kenyan, Tanzania and Rwanda are more likely to flood back home.

No doubt but they'll do better waiting till shabaab are either eliminated or so weak that they'll do no harm. Especially for nations like Kenya who have faced attacks on their side of the boarder.

I wouldn’t mind the EAC if Somalia got a UK style deal later down the line. Negotiating better deals as well as more control over our boarders, I'd like us to be in but not too far in.

A nation in fragments, unpredictable, no national cohesiveness, wreaked by tribal conflicts, corruption and is subservient to international organizations and donors, thus no sovereignty and self-determination, is in no position to join this regional integration from strength position. Rather it will get the short stick. I'm not against the trade agreement EAC (against EAF) however the timing is miscalculated!

Wow so even if Somalia wanted to leave in the future it would need the support of a ‘two-thirds majority’ before its accepted, which will never happen since the Community is influenced by Kenya and the latter can push Tanzania, Uganda and the others to reject the withdrawal until the question of the maritime dispute has finally gone through their local courts.

Which ever way you cut this, it’s a huge strategic blunder. All of the benefits of cross border trade and access could have been negotiated with each individual East African country, there was absolutely no need for this. If Ethiopia with all its desires for ports, and good relations with Kenya didn’t join this future federation, why did HSM think it was good idea to join with all the bad blood still there?
damn it either ignorant of what happening or ur s separatist somalia doesn't need anyone permission to leave lease stop the cap it's making u seem like an idiot

The hell do we need joining into this EAC in the first place, we can develop and prosper on our own if we ever wanted to and be able to implement a fair trade deal with those countries without us losing any of our sovereignty and self determination.

The other dangerous thing is that the politicians can do whatever they want including secret deals that may have a far reaching implications on our sovereignty, so its time to wake up and ask for transparency in our political system
