Culturally and socially Somalia was at its height during this man's reign. Not gonna deny any of the bad things he did but you gotta admit he was more progressive than any of our recent leaders.
I mean the proof is in the pudding, just look how good the songs were back then/

I think using the word "peak" instead of "height" is appropriate here. Somalia literally just got started we don't really have much to compare it with , so in that sense yes it was our peak but at the same time it's not anything to really boast.

somalia's greatest times were right before the ogaden war. after the war the country slowly destabilized and entered a civl war ofc

He was the best somali leader..... until the Ogaden War.

We waisted resources on This war and stupidly switched sides from the Soviets, after leeching off of them for 5 years.

We should have waited for our economy to stabilise then begin producing our own weaponry and machinery. We should have joined the NAM and waited for when our enemy had met his breaking point.

We should’ve then blockaded ethiopia, begin aiding all rebels, and start destroying key state institutions. We should have then armed the Somali Ogaden Resistance enough to make them govern ogaden completely without somali help.

If we had fractured ethiopia, we may have seen success, but no, we stupidly waisted everything on one war while our economy was still developing.

If Siad Barre peacefully stepped down from his office during the end of his term and allowed democratic elections to take place. Somalia would've looked completely different today and Barre would've been loved. With oil explorations taking massively in the 90s, Somalia might've been on par with the Gulf states.

Early barre was still a military dictator, which works in countries with backwards savages, but muslims need to elect righteous leaders and leaders that are concious of the religion at the highest level. Barre was not the best of muslims and Allah will judge him for that not me.

We need to select our leaders and remove them based on the sunnah and religion. We cannot have protests and destroy ourselves from within like our enemies would like to see. How many muslim countries have to protest and let sleeper cells that the CIA arm take over before we learn!

Do what turkey did and stand against CIA traps! shut down protests and remove leaders through carefully planned assasinations with a good pious replacement ready or elect another official to replace them if the leader is not extremely corrupt enough to meddle in elections.

However we must never implode from within. Our enemies want that!

He will be judged for causing fitna. The problem that we must kick address is the habitual protecting of criminals and wrongdoers by the elders of their clan.

We should not judge this way. We will be asked about why we protected them in the akhira. That being said i want somalis to become a critical and logically thinking people, whilst also maintainign our deen and morals. We must become a morally upright and leading nation. Whatever good traits we see in other nations we must now at the infancy of our changing society, adopt the good practices of other nations and ppl's while keeping our culture and heritage.

:nahgirl: using songs to measure Somalia's success and validate a war criminal who killed sheikhs and suppressed religion.

Coming back to Allah and his religion and its values so we can prosper and function as a society:yousmart:

They don't make songs like this anymore abaayo. And isn't it often art and culture that is used to evaluate societies?

You're skipping a crucial step. How can you evaluate a society before you even built it. Build and function as a society first, then evaluate it.:yacadiim:

Siyad Barre was a terrorist, I don’t know why you supporting this man? A man who bombed and killed his own people deserves no praise. He was an evil individual. A good portion of Somalis see this man as some revolutionary or rebel when in reality he really was a lying, scamming, cuck, insecure bag of garbage.

A dictator who allowed:

-his clansmen to rob the national bank
-ordered the murder of sheikhs
-approved the rape of civilians
-approved the murder of civilians
-approved the bombing of civilians
-Took sides in petty clan battles
-Used the state military to displace and land-grab
-poisoned water wells and massacred defenceless innocent civilians
-Looted much of the country
-Instigated and played clans against each other

Somalia is in this current mess and it can all be linked to Barre's corrupt, qabiilist discriminatory policies. Ever since 1969, the nation went downhill into a dark abysmal path which led to the current instability and mistrust we have today.

Unlike some people, I and most decent Somalis have principles which I abide by which is Islam. In Islam, it's completely haram to support any form of oppression regardless even if they come from your tribe or ethnicity. If a war criminal came from my sub sub sub sub clan, I would totally condemn him. AUN to all the innocents who died.

Abdullah ibn Mas’ud reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

مَنْ أَعَانَ قَوْمَهُ عَلَى ظُلْمٍ فَهُوَ كَالْبَعِيرِ الْمُتَرَدِّي يَنْزِعُ بِذَنَبِهِ

Whoever supports his people in oppression is like a dead camel that falls into a well and is pulled out by its tail.

Wathila ibn Al-Asqa’ reported: I said, “O Messenger of Allah, is it part of tribalism that a man loves his people?” The Prophet said:

لَا وَلَكِنْ مِنَ الْعَصَبِيَّةِ أَنْ يُعِينَ الرَّجُلُ قَوْمَهُ عَلَى الظُّلْمِ

No, rather it is tribalism that he supports his people in wrongdoing.
