Somalia to demolish ruins for hotels?

There are reports of historical sites being bought up to be used as spots for hotels.

Why do Somalis back home seem to have such little regard for historical sites? Xamar's beach is already full of hotels and apparently the private sector is involved with this land buying. Another example I could think of is Zeila's dilapidated state, why aren't their any community efforts to preserve Somalia's history?

Somalis will build 100 hotels and villa style houses before they think to build a road or a new sewage system.

Somalia could have one of the most iconic architectures of Africa if they modernised existing architecture and focused on rebuilding a few major cities first before expanding outwards. We could easily rival countries like Morroco.

This criminal should have upgraded the sewage system long time ago but he's always ready to sell our future and history for more wealth he does not need. Tuug!

No its not fishy mogadishu is the only developed city out of the entire country the other major cities don't compare. These hotels are mostly hosting visitors from inside somalia everyone wants to visit there for business and other reasons. Don't forget Mogadishu port supports the surrounding cities and towns things brought from there end up all the way into Kenya to the point where Kenyans complain about not being able to compete on certain commodities the prices are too low for them to profit to take their costumers back sugar being one i can remember. There is a lot of money actually coming into that city. Somali kenyans go to mogadishu a lot as well.

Do these niggas not realize there can only be so many hotels in the city. I shit you not there's a hotel a block away from the light house. There can only be so many hotels and restaurants. Like damn make fish cannery or something. You know how many fish go to waste when they could have been preserved via canning? The catch of the day just rots if it's not sold because these fishermen are poor and can't afford refrigeration.

Hotels and restaurants everywhere, meanwhile essential infrastructure is nowhere to be found. So much incompetence, it will hurt us in the future when the city is poorly developed with no urban planning.

Somalis do built other things as well. The existence of hotels, restaurants and other services is simple supply and demand and it helps stimulate the economy which allows funding in more important areas.

They are not only building hotels , this is false. The accommodations are not only aimed at foreigners, they are aimed at transnational Somali travelers and regional investors to inject foreign currency into economy and make use of services.

Somaliland has even built road infrastructure to boost regional trade into Ogaden.

They built a massive highway that connects Borama to other areas. It's part of series of projects aimed at creating transporation infrastructure to facilitate trade

So much of what they are doing is to facilitate economic growth.

My concern mainly is how it might impact historical sites since there is little regulation in which spaces can be bought and used.
