Yes we will be in debt but our economy will also grow because we can use the infrastructure. I wouldn't mind China operating our port as long as it's a smooth operation. We also have to take into account that the ports we have can barely be called that they are old and lack equipment.

Imagine building up Somalia using your own population and resources, creating your own materials, and in effect reinvesting in your economy. Nah better use Chinese companies and risk debt and still have an unengaged population.

Nonetheless, if they can handle the labor right and train the Somali population, this can actually work out for both Africa and China. China needs a population to export its goods to, and as a result it gains more from propping up Africa then keeping them poor. But I would much rather have seen Somali companies building our infrastructure and exporting to other African nations.
