That is BS. While tribalism is a self inflicted issue, it was colonialism that truly fucked us over. Our lands were split in five different parts and we only unified two of those. Siad Barre invaded because he wanted to get back Galbeed which was being occupied by Ethiopia.

But the itallians and colonizers left Somalia 60 years ago. I don't think it's fair to blame Somalias problems on them.
In the past 30 years over 2 million Somalis died due to civil war and man made famine, you can't blame that on colonizers that left 60 years ago. We chose to kill ourselves over pointless tribal wars that have had no benefit.
Yes the colonizers did split us up but using which medium. Tribalism. They saw the divison that already existed within us and used that division to conquer us mentally.

I totally understand your logic. But let me add something.
Imagine if his son and his daughter don't want to return back to their father. What if they want to stay with their neighbour and better prefer their neighbour.
What if with every bit of effort the father puts in to regain his kids it's none other then the kids that are sabotaging their own father. What should the father do in that case.
Also wouldnt it be smarter for the father to try his best not to sobatage is remaining kids and at least be patient on the loss of his other children. Rather then losing all the kids and have non remaining?
Although Somalis had a massive part in the destabilisation of our nation, you can’t over look the fact that foreign nations have played a big part in the continuation of our civil war and or development. Kenya and Ethiopia been some of them.

Then when he got into he created internal divisions in our country via qabyaalad. Once he's reign was over, he didn't just peaceful stepped down like the Egyptian or Tunisian presidents did in 2011
Instead he massacred MJ in Mudug, he massacred Hawiye in Beledweyn, he bombed the f*ck out of the Isaaq in Hargeisa and Burco, and he starved/displaced Raxanweyn in several southern states
Imagine if Somalia had good leadership instead all of the mess caused by MSB. Once Ethiopia went into civil war, we could've invaded and captured galbeed. Nobody in the IC would've stopped us because we could've made the argument that we were saving our people
Then look at what happened after the civil war. Till this day you have people still denying the massacres and genocides that different qabils went through
It took us 20 years before we finally setup a government in 2012. And even though this is finally a fully recognized government that is making progress, it's been 10 years and we still haven't finalized the constitution

It’s not just the leader but the support system surrounding him that refuses to let go of power. Even if for some miracle Siad Barre personally decided to step down after his car accident in 86’, and wanted to usher in new elections, the support system surrounding him which consisted of his wives (especially Khadija), sons, extended family and clan relatives would all pressure him to continue, which meant subjugating entire clans and regions, which is what happened.
This is why the insertion and inclusion of relatives by a leader in the government is so dangerous. The current nepotism by HSM where all of his kids are in the cabinet and military, driving government cars etc, is just a sign that we haven’t learned from our mistakes. President Aden Adde stepped down peacefully after his election loss in 67’ precisely because none of his relatives were part of the government;
This is a very good point and it is why I say that Somalias failures are mostly from our own leaders. Ajnabis are only able to take advantage of the problems that are caused by our own leaders
This is why I am totally against centralism. If we’re not careful, we can have a politician just turn into another MSB. But with a federalist government, a corrupt president will still face opposition from the different federal states
