Somalia rejected an appeal from Ethiopia to enter into negotiations with a view to granting it access to a Red Sea port! - Bloomberg

Gudubursi is making a fatal mistake, this will not only galvanize support for AS but make all clans hate you.

We don't care. We will do whatever it takes to bring development to our region. Go focus on your own region. Somalinimo is BS. Don't lecture us with that BS.

@Arkan
Look at this guy lecturing us when his uncle Farmajo tried to incorporate Somalia into a greater Ethiopia. These are the hypocrites lecturing us.

You kept supporting Farmajo even after he tried unifying Somalia with Ethiopia, why the hypocrisy? One rule for you?

Why is no one mentioning cisse if they hear Ethiopia is going to Awdal coast, they all going to move back and stake their historical ownership

And abandon Djibouti to the Afar and Samaroon? Never going to happen. They're not that stupid. Besides the town of Saylac is inhabited by the Samaroon at over 95%. All the businesses, land and homes. The Ciise live mainly in the countryside and not the town.

Nope never supported any annexation of Somalia. The tripartite alliance worked then but now due to Itoobiya’s boldness in capturing a port that alliance collapses

The issue is not Ethiopia's access to a Port, they already have access to ports. What they want is access to establish a NAVY. You read that right, a landlocked nation is training a navy.

Guess who is facilitating this?

France.

Abiy was always open with the fact that he had world powers backing him in his quest for sea access, in particular the Red Sea.

In his latest speech, he was implying that he wanted a full port ownership of a port, and not just one where Ethiopia owned some shares.

By getting a port for themselves, it will subsequently given them costal access and thus the opportunity to establish a navy. I think it’s as clear as day to what the true intention is.

All of a sudden there is fake wadanimo, where was this wadanimo when Berbera, Djibouti and Mogadishu all sold out to the Ethiopians decades ago?
Because they are not looking to invest you moron. They are looking for direct acces or in other words a piece of land to be handed to them for 30% of Ethiopian airlines which is absolutely ridiculous. Handing over Somali lands will not be tolerated despite delusional CBB fake awdal state supporters wanting to hand over awdal to Ethiopia.

This changed my mind. That makes it clear that Ethiopia wants to get a piece of territory for the long term, not a port where they have a majority stake.

What Ethiopia wants is a 100 year lease so it can have a navy base and idk if Ethiopia actually has the capability to develop and invest huge sums of money to build a world class of economic trade port infrastructure in that town unless Abiy would like to have the Chinese help him with the funds to achieve his nation's maritime goals so reer Awdal shouldn't be hyped about that as there's lots of obstacles and problems that Ethiopians will face.

@Awdalite I can understand your frustration with those making appeals to Somalinimo, but what Ethiopia is seeking here is totally different from the port deals of Berbera and Mogadishu. Ethiopia wants a port where it does NOT have to pay taxes/customs. They want a port that they fully own/lease. Similar to the Ilo Port deal between Peru and Bolivia. The difference is that Peru and Bolivia have been allies for over 150 years, while Ethiopia is our ethnic group’s only true enemy.

This would be bad for all Somalia economically and politically.

The Saylac-Cabdulqaadir-Biyo Qaboobe-Dir Dhabe corridor can be developed without giving up so much control to Ethiopia. The Isaaq will be opposed due to competition with Berbera-Wajaalebut they cannot stop you from creating a private company to finance such a project. It is not impossible for a clan as large as Gadabursi & with as good a reputation to have many Somalis invest in a clearly profitable project.

Why should Somalia cater to Ethiopia? Eriteria which is ethnically closer to Ethiopia is clearly refusing why should we help our enemies?

We can make money from Ethiopia by building a port at Saylac. It would also weaken the case for secession by giving the Gadabursi economic autonomy from Isaaq. But no 99 year lease or land ownership. Awdal can become like Djibouti, and that’s fine.

Eritrea is a country with a shrinking population that fears Ethiopia’s demographics. somalis are laandheer, Ethiopia fears our demographics. I don’t fear closer integration with Ethiopia, but Eritrea does because they are laangaab. Gadabursi alone are as large as all Christians in Eritrea πŸ˜…

Ethiopia would have a better chance taking out the "north Korea of Africa". They can make some shit up about liberating the people of Eritrea, following the western play book of intervention.
