Somalia really needs to turn the massive remittance money sent from the diaspora into investment

Money sent from the west by the diaspora goes to other countries covers and becomes easily earned valuable foreign currency such as $,€ & £.
Rest of the money is wasted on expensive electricity, poor education unhealthy imported products, ugly low quality housing.
Why waste 3+ billion dollars every year and have the same problems every year?
When we can invest a portion of the money in education for 2-5 years and make the education high quality market oriented programs?
Why send tens of millions for Medical care to your families and have nothing solved.
When we can invest a portion of the money gradually to improve the medical industry, facilities, quality & the quality of the doctors and nurses and create preventive and early diagnosing capabilities.

Somalis need to come up with better strategies before the majority diaspora becomes hooyo mataalo who have 0 connections with the country

There are other mechanism to employ to secure your funds and improve your the lives of your family & relatives in Somalia.

Somali investments are extremely small and rare. Somali do trading, which is why many of the businesses back home are called "trading group", they seek short term profit. There's also a hostile environment for long term prospects, you'd want your money back in your hands as soon as possible.

I hope diaspora with the intention to invest do their best to undercut these businesses, provide better service with more jobs even if it cuts into their profit margin. It could lead to bigger customer base and growth, ultimately a bigger say in the local economy, but there lies another problem, Somalia has too small a population invest in.
