The people running around claiming that OIL will be produced are not 'scientific' and do not understand the 'evidence based' approach that western world applies. The way the western world sees Somalia, there is no oil ever going to be produced, it will remain an 'aid' based society that will be 'contained' as much as possible it's chaos and political instability. The reason is simple, you can't even AGREE on the distribution of 'AID' money and you use it for political instability in other regions, they see this as 'evidence' that any sort of investment into OIL could make Somalia are much more dangerous country with more money to play with and more destruction to follow.

Untill we are politically stable and mature and demonstrate we can manage the little aid money RESPONSIBLY among ourselves with no CORRUPTION and not using it for violence against ourselves or potentially our neighbor, you are basically going to remain how you are now since Shaykh Sharif time till Farmaajo time. There is no difference their still stuck in makka al mukarama and contributed nothing in terms of 'scalable' progress.

You can scale the progress from Abdiqasim Salat(nairobi hotel) to Abdillahi Yusuf, well there was nothing there in Mogadishu and then all of a sudden SOMETHING WAS THERE. That was a big scalable difference if we apply a mechanism of measure on what progress is and how it scales over time period. The scale of progress however after abdillahi yusuf has been basically STAGNANT and at times 'regressive'. Not much looks different on the ground from Shaykh Sharif time and Farmaajo now, there has been no scalable difference in the security 'aspect'. Other then private sector and turkey partnership in development, we cannot say the government of farmajo and sharif was any different. Corruption is rampant, political instability ensues, constitution non-existant, courts and law n order 'fragile', shabab is still there. We can apply a mechanism of measure on each presidency and the west does. So forget it YOU Z@@MALIS

Somalia OIL is like Somaliland recognition project only the fools on the ground or ONLINE believe it!!! who have no grasp of evidence based approach analysis which is what the culture of the western world is and their political style. Maybe Somalis think the world operates like they do and their thinking style which is very emotional. Doctor, Somalia is going to produce energy in the future. It might be green energy like solar / wind power. or the well known oil energy. It can be transported to other african nations, china, india and maybe even the americas. One way or another there will be huge amount of revenue coming from the energy/ minerals industry.

Not only oil and minerals, but radioactive material in particular. We are home to the largest unexplored uranium deposits in Africa and the Middle East, several US, EU and Russian companies have been trying to get rights to mine them- most for use back in their own country. We are literally on a gold mine of resources, now we just have to learn how to remove, refine and use them.

I agree with you that it is unsafe for the onshore exploration of oil in Somalia. Offshore is a different issue. Sure, the Federal government and the states don't agree on the terms but that doesn't really matter. Do you think that states like Galmudug or Puntland are going to blow up oil platforms? That is never going to happen. The major oil firms will play by the rules set by the FGS and drill anyway.

One modern patrol boat can decimate them. Ever since IC started patrolling Somali seas, pirates have become a non existing threat.

PL attempted OIL drilling in 2010 with Farole. It started in 2005 with Cade Muse. It's an old policy of PL to 'fool' majerten there is 'hope' coming in order to keep the peace. It was similar to the 'recognition' project used to keep 'isaaq' united even though it's FAILED miserably(hy vs jegaan). Mogadishu is 10 years behind and mimicking the same 'project'. Waxay tusaale idin tahay, how behind hawiye politics is in comparison to Majerten. We Majerten have given up on OIL as the hawiye start the same thing we INITIATED looooooooooooool.

Why u may ask the Majerten gave up? I will tell you so in 10 years when Hawiye catches up because it takes 10 years for hawiye to catch up to majerten thinking level. In 10 years hawiye will realize it's impossible for western companies to be seen giving 'oil money' to governments who will buy weapons against each other. They do this already with the small aid money, hence no western think tank will ever promote the idea of allowing OIL for a fragile political unstable environment of Somalia.

Untill political stability is PROVEN(10-20 years) federalism vs centralism, qatar vs dubai, all that nonsense untill it's over, no corruption with aid money so if PL is saying constantly HAMAR LACAGTA MA BIXISO except for QARAX, aid money 'agreed' on which proves u can manage the little money u have, and Somalia has strong institutions that is uncorruptable. There is no way the west will dare allow any of it's corporations access to Somalia, they will be told if they go anywhere near Somalia they have broken the foreign policy of their countries.
