Tbh, I’m 100% favour of joining EAC, provided that it remains as an EU type of union. And not proceeding to develop further into becoming an East African federation, where we relinquish our sovereignty. Other than this, we’re good.
this post makes realize somalis are de-sensetized to humiliation. you dont see ukraine calling for freedom of movement with russia. somalis are calling for freedom.of movement with governments of foreign invading forces uganda kenya burundi. somalis always find new lows.

I don't agree with your take on my post. At all. Don't even know where the humiliation aspect even came from, lol.

If you've seen my posts on this and adjacent topics, then you'd know that I'm all for the interest of Somalis. And Somalis only. I'm staunch anti-Ethiopia and to a lesser extent Kenya, as they don't have our interest at heart due to land and sea 'disputes'. Not to include that I'm very sceptical towards those countries who have a presence (troops) in our sovereign land. Even the west who benefits from the instability of Somalia etc.

However, in this current climate of the world, we need to have great relationship with our neighbours and the rest of the world for us. I'm also in favour of improving the state of Somalia. Economically we'd benefit from integrating with the economy of our immediate neighbours and so forth. Joining an intergovernmental organisation like EAC is one way (with strict conditions). Just like how we are part of the Arab league despite not being Arabs.

Regarding the presence of foreign troops, you have no one to blame other than yourself, your countrymen and your (lack of) leaders. They didn't come to Somalia through xoog, but instead due to your failures. Come to terms with the reality sxb. The moment you get your shit together, then you can expel them. Until then, you better lay low.

The ultimate humiliation are the foreigners that you need to maintain peace in your land.

I'm skeptical. How can we join a politician union with Kenya a country that has troops inside our borders and a marittime dispute with us? Uganda and Burundi also have occupation troops in our land.Everyone talking about businesses and Somali entrepreneurs in Kenya, Tanzania etc is missing a key point. Somalis are taking over business not Somalia as a country. Our businesses in Kenya are individual enterprises who have little to do with the Somali government. This EAC thing is de facto colonization.

Some Somalis don’t even understand how much we can benefit from this union economically as a nation our peoples entrepreneurial spirit is one of there greatest assets get ready for mini eastleighs to pop up across east Africa
Somalis are already major players in Kenya, setting up huge businesses in Zambia and Rwanda, established successful communities in Tanzania. This is not even a union, just economical co-operation, these countries won’t unite this century or ever.

Kenyan troops are in Somalia because of a clan using them to their own advantage and even then the kenyaatis haven’t done fück all. They and the rest of the countries of Amisom are confined to their bases, just collecting paychecks from the white man who finances 100% of this whole operation.

Amisom was not created or handled by africans, its the westerners. From the start to the end. Western countries did not want to use their own troops in Somalia to fight ”terrorism” so they use africans who have died by the thousands all essentially for nothing.

Amisom are leaving, we have gotten confirmation from the defence minister and from XSM himself. Cadaans don’t want to finance them anymore so they are pulling the plug. Also our president has done wonderful job working with the real players and easing the arms embargo.

Somali businessmen playing a huge part is a plus, they will benefit somalis and it will trickle down to Somalia once we get our shit in order slowly.

But where's the logic in becoming part of EAC before the border issues are settled? This is not limited to Somalia-Kenya either amongst EAC countries. It's worth pointing out that's without a doubt a pure textbook definition of a recipe for disaster. Don't even know why the gov't are chasing after the membership so quickly. I'm afraid that the lack of appropriate procedures will make the country vulnerable to be taken advantages of, both internally and externally.

EAC countries lack the financial ability to take over Somalia so we are in the clear. EAC just makes trading easier. The maritime border issue alsobetween us and Kenya has been settled.

I fail see any danger from thus trade union walaal
