Even when people pay the quality of treatment is absolutely sub par. I wouldn’t have a problem with charging people if the services where half decent but Somalia doctors will charge you fees up the ass just to say there’s nothing they can do about your condition which would have otherwise been taken care of somewhere else for half the price.

90% are private establishments, they function like any other business and run on profits, they dont get any subsidies from the state to pay their staff or equipment, I personally believe the fact that they exist is a huge improvement and step forward when you compare to a few decades ago, just need to upgrade them and regulate them properly.

The vast majority don't even do surgeries, so yes they will charge you for a consultation just to tell you to go to India or Turkey to get your surgery, surgical equipment and medical equipment in general is very very expensive and most of these institutions are very young. People in the West don't realize this cause the governments they live under either pay their bills or the hospital's.

Ngl, I don’t think there’s even one operating block in the whole country. The only way this can be solved is for the government to invest heavily in private healthcare to make it better, and at least subsidize health worker salaries, especially for nurses their salary is way too low.

Regulations and large, high-quality public referral hospitals are also very important, if a small private hospital can’t operate on you, you shouldn’t have to fly to another country for treatment, all of this has been acknowledged on paper but FGS simply doesn’t have the money to fund it. Good Hospitals are very expensive to build and fund, it's a massive project that can go in the hundreds of millions for each one.

After Ogaden war, when bunch of officers tried to overthrow him and failed, instead of going after them, he targeted their community, creating division or at least furthering that. He was the cause of the creation and rise of many Jabhads against him and by extension the Somali state.

There is a serious lack of taxation back home. No tax, no services. This is an extremely ugly thing but we need to face the problem. The people themselves.

100%. Healthcare workers are under danger in Xamar. If the woman had died during the childbirth, her people could come looking for answers violently. Same people let her come alone smh.
