Somaliland should implement the kafala system for foreigners like how the uae does and these problems wouldn’t exist.

As per sland constitution everyone who has lived in sland 10 years or more has the right to apply citizenship irrespective of his clan but the problem is that the somali officials have there own unconstitutional ways of getting things done, so a person who have the right to get something wont get it and vise versa. I even know an ogaden relative who has her own sland citizenship, so this is a single incident and mistake by few corrupted officials so it shouldnt be taken as institutionalized hate against somalis hailing from the other regions.

Great to see this lady speak up. Any sane, objective person would've known this story to be BS from the beginning. Only those who are looking to jump on anything anti-SL started frothing at the mouth with feigned anger at this trumped up "injustice".
Anyone who has been to Hargeisa, Burco or any other major SL city will know that any well intentioned Somali is welcome. Especially Hargeisa, where there are large numbers of MJ's, Ogaden's, Hawiyes etc.
One of our neighbours in Hargeisa is an MJ who fled originally fled his Hargeisa home when it started being bombed in 80's. He returned in 1998 to not only find that his house had been one of the few that hadn't been seriously damaged, but that the local authority immediately removed the local squatters occupying his house when he showed his papers. He's now an SL citizen, like many other non-SL natives who've made SL home.
