She got it from her late husband who also infected his 2 other wives who passed away from the disease

Its sad too see how shes being treated like an outcast even her own mom disowned her and kicked her out the house

Somali couples have to get tested before the wedding. If he or she refuses then walk away from the relationship. Simple as that.

It's sad what happened to her but she is a danger to others, there is no infrastructure to deal with it.
It's like when Covid hit the only thing people could do was lock down to contain it. This is a primitive sort of quarantine.

there should be more education and awareness about this theres somalis that believe if a person with HIV touches you or spits on your food you gonna get infected

How is she a danger to others? Ostracizing someone because of a disease is ignorant and narrow minded. Touching, or being in close contact with a person with HIV doesn’t mean you’ll get it. People need to be educated about how HIV is transmitted.

Ostracising someone is quarantine. If people knew her husband had it, they could have ostracised him so she and the other wives wouldn't have contacted it.

All it takes is a little cut and in Somalia that is a daily occurance. Now she has the real potential to spread to others and the more people who catch the faster it will spread in the community. If she is isolated it reduces the chance of her infecting people, it is the reason we have lock down for Covid.

It's good fear to have in place like Somalia. I would rather be overly cautious and stay safe. Look at our neighbors they are more developed and have higher HIV rates. What has "educating them" done when you don't have the infrastructure or medicine to deal with it.

You cannot be seriously equating an airborne disease like Covid to one that requires coming into contact with bodily fluids, namely through sexual intercourse. They’re not the same. And besides, there are treatments for HIV which means the likelihood of giving it to someone else is greatly reduced. It’s not the death sentence it used to be. Enough with the fear mongering.

I'm not comparing it Covid. I'm making a statement about the use of quarantine as preventive measure for spreading the desease. I could compare it to leprosy from 1000 years ago or the bubonic plague, the point remains the same.

It is harmless and not a death sentence in the west. People die from tetanus and other easily preventable deseases all the time in Somalia.

There is no infrastructure or easily accessible medicine. Someone in the UK does not have to worry about it because they can get prep from the NHS.

Walaahi God be with her. To have HIV is a major trial indeed.
