I over heard this Somali uncle who has a good reputation in our community talking about his past. He is like a sheikh.

Anyway he didn't see me and he was on his phone, and he was talking to someone on the phone about his past, about how he used to go over to this girls house back home in Somalia he really liked, they were love birds, but they didn't get married. He said he would close the door and have fun with her and then the girls sister would come in the room and say “she is getting married to so and so” leave her alone.

This man publicly was talking about how committed zina and he was so proud of it.

Fair enough. There’s very little stigma around divorce in the Somali community compared to other Muslim communities so divorce is naturally more common. And Somali women initiate divorce way more often than men.

If you didn’t know lemme burst your bubble even more just like my Habaryar did. Apparently back in the day, most of these holier than thou elders you see today were the biggest ciyaal suuq. Apparently there were clubs before the war and men and women mingled freely with no shame. And zina was common. They use to wear shorts, short skirts/dresses and even use to walk around in those see thru diracs without bras. She said guys would pick up girls on the streets lol and they use to even enact these activities in their live shows lol

The thing is they're running away from their role as a father cause it's your own kids you're supposed to be there to teach them values,manners and correct their behaviour this why you see somali kids running around in stores crazy while their mom is pushing a baby stroller
