The pygmies are the least threatening people in that region. It's the Bantus who have been known to eat people. People such as the Mbuti are reduced to servitude-like status. The Pygmies eat bushmeat because they eat everything like hunter-gatherers, from fish, larvae, and all animals available, and usually spend 12 hours gathering enough calories for the day while also smoking a lot of weed and selling it too. Their territories are reduced over time, resulting in them living on the margins, whereas these Bantu criminals can come, catch them, and kill them without any rhyme or reason. Many Bantus don't even view the Pygmies as full humans. It's one of the reasons most people don't care when they are killed, too.
