Bantu Somalis have the right to call themselves Somali over a Somali who claims a made up Arab ancestor.
Technically they’re Tanzanians who were brought to Somalia. They’re not they’re own race called Somali Bantus that’s basically Bantus living in Somalia.

Music is haraam. Traditions that are haraam deserve to die. May every tradition that is haraam go extinct.

In Egypt, it used to be tradition to sacrifice virgins by throwing them into the Nile.

The Quran is full of mentions of people who use "my/our forefathers!" as an argument to disobey Allah. Mushrikeen all over the world and across history have used and still to this day use that same argument to try to justify shirk. If worshipping a rock was the practice of your forefathers would you also be a rock-worshipper?

Broski there is no point of a identify when you don't have tradition.

Muslim is my identity. Don't get me wrong- I identify with my ethnicity and all that. I'm not one of those "post-racial" types.

I have stacks of books on the history of my people. I love my language and I'm attached to it.

You can uphold the ties of kinship with your family. You can study the history of your people. You can check the news and try to stay on top of what is happening back home. You can spend time cultivating your relationship with your language, consuming material in your language, studying the language. You can eat the same food as your ancestors ate. You can promote Islam to your people.

There are so many, many ways to connect to your people. I want you to be connected to your people. I want you to have a healthy sense of your identity. However, we must always be Muslims first.

Allah told us in the Quran (translation of the meaning):

"Say: If it be that your fathers, your sons, your brothers, your mates, or your kindred; the wealth that ye have gained; the commerce in which ye fear a decline: or the dwellings in which ye delight - are dearer to you than Allah, or His Messenger, or the striving in His cause;- then wait until Allah brings about His decision: and Allah guides not the rebellious."

-Surah At-Tawbah 9:24

We must put Allah before our love for our fathers, sons, brothers, mates or kindred.

It's not that we shouldn't love our kindred but that we must always put Allah first.
