What are some Somali superstitions you know of? The ones I’ve heard are : put salt at your door to keep away evil, if a child wets the bed make them sit on a didiin to cure it, drinking geel pee will cure you of any illness, if your left hand is itchy then you’ll soon find a lot of money and fortune. :mjlol:

What part of Somalia are you from? And did you go up to your grandma and asked her this while you wrote ‘em down lol? I’ve haven’t heard any except maybe vaguely the last one...but this one is found in many cultures so idk where i heard it first tbh.

My mom is from Baidoa and she would tell me a lot of these. I just remember them cause I would beg her to tell me things like this as a kid cause it really interested me.

the ones I remember..
Never borrow salt or mafiiq ( broom) from neighbors at night .
don't sweep the house after sunset.
never leave your dacas or shoes upside down .
If there is xunbo swirling at top of your shaah, you'll get money soon .

...i came to know that most of these are also common in other cultures as @Molotoff mentioned.
