Somali people mentality

The above quote encapsulates the mentality of majority of somalis back home. I've heard it today and boy did it remind me of Somalia.

What can we do as people to change this?

It's not like we're bringing everyone else below us. All we're doing is climbing to the top, if everyone else happens to dip and make the climb easier than how is that our fault? You want us to settle for mediocre? I don't get it

If the top is very high, we should go for it

if the top is very low, we should still go for it... why would we want to be at the bottom when the top isn't even all that good?
