They dont follow the Islamic custom of matching their religious and shy daughters with eligible men and just leave it to them. They didn't fulfil their obligation after their daughters fulfilled theirs. They should be called out for failing them.

She's right though. In Islam parents are responsible for their daughters until they get married.
Parents try to discipline the child from a young age even if it's minimal. They get told of they listen to their parents they will be rewarded. Nevertheless, some daughters are disobedient and find their spouse on their own. While the ones who were obedient this whole time and were supposed to be rewarded become forgotten.

It could be that your parents are ashamed of you and you are not worthy for any matching.
This is something I 100% agree with @DangerBadan on. The parents need to do more to get their kids married of, for example, many girls are told to stay away from men and then expected to bring a guy home when their in mid 20's.
It was different back in the day, suitors would always come knocking on the door, but nowadays it's completely different.

I really regret listening to my parents on this. All the girls that date while theyβre young have a much easier time getting married since they are more outgoing. People also think youβre a weirdo if you havenβt been in a relationship by a certain age. Oddly enough I think guys see it as more weird lol I lie nowadays. If youβre honest it scares them off or you attract the crazy wadaads that want to lock you up in a basement after asr.

The whole point of the thread is that her parents never hooked her up. I honestly think it's true cuz i seen too many somali fams that are the same. They tell girls from a young age "stay away from men" then expect them to bring a guy home in their 20s when there is no guy around them at all for their entire lives. Just cuz your fam hooks their girls up doesn't mean all fams do that. It's ridiculous to set your fam as the norm in the community. Plus your female cousins/ sisters are smart to keep their standards high.Most men tend to want the best candidate for their daughters/ sisters/ cousins.
