There were two phases of devastation that took place in Somalia , where sons and daughters became motherless and fatherless in large numbers, matter of fact it was undocumented due to deliberate miscalculation, neglect on that matter, conquests, colonialism and civil war etc.
These events are not only distinct but are completely 70 years apart,
In the1920s we may question what really happened during that era , recording and documenting massacres were not included in colonial records , if we look from that spectrum , technology and various devices were basically scarce many of things we are privalleged with today were non existent in that era,
thus we cannnot find the right answer.
But we can speculate things and estimate but some tend to blow it out of proportion when there isn't many sources we might be lucky enough to hear the stories from an old timer unfortunately many aren't alive , thus its harder to find reliable sources ofcourse you can find alternative ways since , more and more colonial documents and pages are being uncovered and you can translate Italian diaries but it seems to be one sided and it often praises the might of the Imperial Italian Oriental Army it justifies their actions and the casaulties are statistics meanwhile the inhabitants pervied as inferior savages.

The brutal civil war created more fatherless and motherless children than the entire 77 war casaulties , colonial period and the many skirmishes that took place in pre civil war .
