Somali or Somalian

Let me clarify this if you are from Djibouti and you’re Somali you can’t be called Somalian because you are not a resident or originally come from there. Then why do people say call us Somalians.
Somali=Ethnicity
Somalian=Nationality
There is a huge difference and to all the xoolo that call us Somalians go f*** yourselves.
