The issue with oil as has been said is that this will cause an Venezuela type economy and that will make these states most likely be completely dependant on oil prices, you will be eating when the oil prices is high but when its down you'll be eating dirt.

Somalia can barely manage it's own meagre port/airport revenues and global donations, they use it to bribe and cause instability politically regionally and in the capital. To think their going to give u more money thru oil is what I mean when it's time for mods to say come on guys 'this is news for locals' not for western based diaspora. Indeed, an economy only based of oil is very unstable and PL did a great choice not to accept it.
Even if we become large oil giants that wouldn't help us since oil prices fluctuate and an economy shouldn't fluctuate between poverty and prosperity.

It's a bit deeper then that. The companies themselves are small to medium, they don't have the 'resources' nor the 'national' markets in the world which are controlled by CORPS. Their trying to buy cheap 'real estate' and have it grow and wait when Somalia is not that risky for CORPS to come and sell it 'high' and make a killing. In the mean time they probably give small payment or project but what they will get in return for transfer of the asset to corporations is HUGEEEEEEEEEEE.
That's when they become 'tycoons' wala yaqana kuwani, waa kuwa cadaanka oo lacag yar haysto oo investment samaynayo so they become 'billionaire' club. These are not corporations, that's when it's REAL or they must at least have multi billionaires and PREPARED MARKETS to accept the oil and most markets are owned by the CORPS, as if they will allow some small venturer in kkkkkk. Yeah our location makes us very relevant, Mogadishu and the south have to accept that L. The trade route isn't indian ocean nor on they're side. Puntland opinions will always be considered more a priority then Mogadishu just on that simple geo-political fact. How many ships even use that small lane way between indian ocean to south africa? hardly none, it won't effect the global order whatsoever those isolated lane ways.

There is a curse side to our location. We are now stuck in between a fine line to negiotate well locally and foreign, we can't just take local interest into heart, those Saudi will turn Bosaso into 'Yemen' over night the day we join 'qatar' alliance wallahi. Trust me if they did it to yemenis for shia, bosaso looma daahayo kkkkk. But they are not helpful either in assisting with Mogadishu who will side with anyone and everyone irrespective of what that can mean geopolitically as they are seriously not political class.

You got it back to front economics, u want to target industries where there is less countries involved like 'science, tech, academias' U dont wanna touch agriculture beyond food security for yourself but not turn it into economy, your then competing with every nation that does agriculture, hence the supply of it has outstripped demand, and costs go down to pennies.
Trust me it's not gold commodity. Camel is worth a-lot. Infact if Somalis want to entertain any 'ancient' trade it has to be 'stock-men' or livestock owners like cattle, sheeps, goats. U wud be suprised what a 'wagyu' sells for or an angus and if you got the right scientific institutions u can prolly breed yours to be even better quality. Plus organic and natural is 'in' now 'tag' your products 'organic' cause they are, price goes up. ppl are sick of chemicals tag it 'chemical free'
