Why Are Somali names dying? Shouldn't we stop calling ourself arabic names and starting ourself our Somali names? When will Somalis ever learn Arab culture is not Islam but a culture. Persians are muslim yet they have Persian names. When will we stop call our eldest sons mohamed? Shouldn't we be creative and protective of our culture and language? Shouldn't we preserve our old ways so we can teach about the next generation about the Somali? Why can't my fellow Somalis have names like my name, Cawiye Garaad. A name that will never by mistaken for Arab person. Germans are Christianitians yet they have have German names. No wonder are confused if they are Arabs or not? If you don't know my Somali names, here are the list for both males and females, thanks

Somali names dead cos of islamization. where theres islam the culture goes out of the window.thats the price we pay for being brain dead.

My awoowe and dads name is arabic
Then it goes

Apart from my Name theres only 2 Somali names till Mahad

Garad isn't Somali name is dhulos unless your one you have no business using it:westbrookwtf:

Still it's Somali names meaning wise. Atleast I don't have names like mahamaed ali mahamed or Abdullahi Cabdixahman Yousef. I am glad my parents named me Cawiye Garaad, meaning Wise helper if you tranalte in english. We need to project our culture.

Some names can't be used in the west. For example the name Lul for females means dick in Dutch :francis:

Me up to my great grandfather have arabic names but after that it’s a mix of Somali and Arabic names(mostly Somali tho).

Harari people even use Garad, it never came from Dhulos nor did ugaas. Actually Ugaas is Dir origin so people need to stop making shit up just because your clan uses it alot
