Apparently taxi drivers/owners are feared in South Africa and they operate like a gang. They were brought in to subdue the recent looting spree.

They regularly kill and beat up passengers and uber drivers too.

A Somali got into an accident with a taxi driver and got attacked by them. Somalis in the area defended him and set a taxi rank on fire .

This is unheard of in South Africa and they're losing it on Twitter with "Somalians" trending nr 1 since yesterday.

The fear and hatred that South Africans have for us is unmatched despite Somalis being very low key in that hell hole.

Makes me almost sympathise with the Apartheid regime.

When I was snooping through convos earlier today I came across a video of a Somali claiming to be the head spokesperson for the community with the Nigerian, Tanzanian and Zimb community leaders speaking out against the xenophobia they face. Nigerians get called drug dealers while Tanzanians and Zimbabweans get called car snatchers

It’s sad how they view us Africans like this and are willing to attack their fellow ones but will never dare to attack the white guys in their country or even the Indians. This is so crazy to me I will never understand. If they think fellow Africans are ruining business for them then they have no idea what the whites and Indians are currently doing as we speak

I don’t think the majority of Black South Africans think like this.

It is only those Twitter ultra-nationalist warriors and the ignorant that have these views.

Even if there are a million South a Africans like this, that’s a fraction of the 30 million Black South Africans.

A lot of local media as well as the government has called this behaviour out.

The problem is you have some politicians calling for calm and you have Julius Malema talking about revolution.
