It’s not defamation. They don’t know that dyslexia exists back home and the mental health and disability facilities just aren’t there. Macalins would just assume the child is being lazy.

That must be in Mogadishu, then. Masha-Allah. However, we are still lacking in such facilities in many Somali areas (including in Hargeisa, where I lived for 6 years).

Stop beating up children. Use your words. They will resent you or will become focked up when they get older.

I can't even see the tweet and whatever she wrote could be lies or exaggerations, but it isn't a secret that back home we don't have facilities for people with learning difficulties and mental health issues. My parents were telling me the other day that difficult kids with learning difficulties would usually be tied up. There even multiple documentaries about this, as educated Somalis have tried to change this daqan and they're succeeding MashaAllah.

When a society doesn't have the funding or understanding this is what happens. Obviously now people are a lot more educated so we have people from the diaspora's opening clinics and centers.

My overall point is, whilst the girls can be sensationalist and seem to have issues with many aspects of Somalinimo, many of the boys on the flip side have the opposite phenomenon, they literally want to bury their heads in the sand, especially about things that are well known that even the wadaani older gen would admit to. Therefore, moderation is key.

@xoogster what exactly did I write that is offensive.

There are hardly any mentally ill clinic/learning difficulties centres back home. Many of them are tied up. Anyone who has been raised back home will tell you. Even mental health workers that have went back home to help improve the situation will tell you this.

This isn't just Somali issue. This is merely an issue for poorer societies that lack funding, so stop being sensitive.

Nobody is retarded back home thats what you diaspro fail to realize, you guys have a superiority complex. You don't need mentally ill clinics to know someone has implications, its obvious to spot someone that isn't "100", stop making up lies and framing back home as some 600 BC state so you can fuel your gender wars. The only reason you commented was because someone generalized somali women your past posts verify this. Gender war merchant iska leexo sxb no emotions we here for facts

You need mental health clinics and learning difficulties centres to help people. You don't even know what you're talking about. This has nothing to do with retardation.

Children with learning difficulties back home aren't given the help they need due to lack of funding and understanding. They are usually tied up. That is a fact. Ask your hooyo if you have to. Also, identifying if someone has ADHD and some forms of autism can be hard and can easily be passed off as a kid having bad behavior.

Its the same for the mentally unstable and there are various documentaries following the work of fantasic Somali mental health workers who are on the field.

This isn't a gender war. I basically said both the Somali girls and boy are wrong that moderation is key.

There is a great documentary on the issue. Watch it:

InshaAllah, once we become a stable nation, we can tackle all of these issues.

She basically said : "thinking about the dyslexic kids that got beat up rn by their macaalin"
I don't see why anyone would be up in arms about that comment? Identifying dyslexia and adhd even takes time in the West. I've seen it first hand and even parents in the West at first assume the kids are merely acting up, imagine a macaliin in Somalia who doesn't know what that is, combined with no learning difficulties specialists to diagnose the kid? Yep that kid will probably get double beating.

Again, that doesn't reflect anything against Somali society. It is merely ignorance combined with lack of funding and and actual specialists on the ground that can work with teachers back home which is a common problem in most poorer Eastern countries.

Even in the West, it takes time to diagnose kids and that is in a society that understands dyslexia and ADHD. Honestly, we need to stop being senstive and accept some truths.

Somalis think mental health is a joke there is a common joke that crazy people need to visit 'Dr. Xabeeb' because hes the only doctor trying to treat these patients properly.

Nah definitely not autism or Dyslexia

Me and my brother were definitely a pain in the ass though because of my OCD and he has ADHD; but my Macaliin was patient with me compared to my brother who he lost his patience with
