Exactly. There is without a doubt issues but it is clear from the language and translations used the guy had an agenda. He wanted to seem like a bad-ass in the "most dangerous city". There was a lot of dishonesty and im glad his video was taken down.

They are like that because the Christian West has always propped them up while they demonize Somalis and most Muslims. Its not something they were able to do on their own.Somalis suck at branding. They should learn from their Ethiopian neighbors who are experts at it.
I mean, they put the whole under this deception that Ethiopia has never been colonized (it has been), it has the richest African history, and it is the safest African country (which it is not). They also make it seem that they're the 'lions of Africa', when they're the first ones to hide behind western gus when Somalis man-handle them in battle.
Somalis antagonize just about everybody and expect the world to view them favorably. This gives the world a rather violent perception of Somalis and Somalia in general. They need to be kind, gentle, and polite if they want people to start taking interest in Somalia.

He legit mistranslated things in there and shared inaccuracies to exaggerate how messed up it is. Like a kid tells him they're okay and he translated it as "My father died" or something like that. But yeah, sure... Xamar needs some work.
They should direct that energy to the terrorists that's blowing them every week. When will Somalis stop lying to each other and face the truth, that man did nothing wrong, he showed the world the real Muqdisho. The real Muqdisho where sna soldiers stop you and ask you for money and if you don't give into their demands they will shoot you. When will they start talking about people not being able to take taxis and resort to only trusting bajaj as the only form of transportation. Direct that energy into real things. Disliking videos on YouTube won't make Muqdisho great again. Just my two cents.

Why are there people siding with the Russian? He was obviously engaging in bad faith journalism specifically to highlight how amazingly brave he is, rather than the outrage being due to his depiction of Somalia (which lets face it everyone is aware of) he was clearly there not to report anything but rather to jerk himself off to him and his community. It’s the equivalent of that story of the infamous photo “Afghan Girl” wherein it was later revealed that the photographer had purposefully made up a background story without the permission of her and her family to earn sympathy points from the American public. The photographer of that photo is now widely renowned despite lying, we shouldn’t allow these sorts to control the narrative especially when they have ulterior motives in store.

The comments were in well written afsomali so it was clearly the work of the people back home. Can't screenshot it but a top comment in English was saying something in the line of "this is not the reality here"
